This stunning navy blue day dress captures the essence of classic 1940s post-war style. It is designed to flatter and fit beautifully. Made from luxurious polished faille rayon, this sheath dress features a sophisticated pin-pleated front yoke, decorative pearlized lucite shank buttons down the front, and delicate pin pleat details that enhance its vintage charm. The skirting has two panels at the back and three in the front, with non-bulking peg pockets.

The short dolman sleeves are cuffed for added comfort and provide a non-binding fit, ensuring ease of movement and a polished look. The dress also includes a matching belt to cinch the waist and define your silhouette, while the A-line skirt offers a flattering shape that skims your curves without overwhelming your figure. Designed with functional and slimming peg-front pockets at the hips, this dress is both stylish and practical. The GEM side metal zipper allows for easy on and off.

It comes with the original belt, with metal, blue enameled grommets that indicate the quality and attention to detail. Belt backing is embossed in gold: 24 1/2 ,,Style Setter 3757

The store was founded in 1875 by Isaac Strouss and Bernard Hirshberg as a one-room shop. It later grew into a popular department store. In 1947, it was acquired by The May Department Stores, and the name was changed to "Strauss' " Therefore, we can confidently date this dress to be from before 1947.
