1911 Only One For Me Binghamton New York
A delightful 1911 antique romance card of the loving declaration "You're the only one for me".
This style of collectible postcard is called a "blank" because there is an area left open for a city to print its unique location on the card, thereby personalizing it for the sender and recipient.
This blank features Binghamton, New York. Binghamton is a city in the U.S. state of New York and now serves as the county seat of Broome County. The first known people of European descent to come to the area were the troops of the Sullivan Expedition in 1779. The conjunction of the Chenango and Susquehanna Rivers along with the railroad made Binghamtom a center for agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation.
The Gilded Age brought many stately homes to Binghamton so the city was nicknamed the Parlor City because of this. Immigrants flocked there to find work. They sent penny postcards to woo their loves. That is the story behind this romantic card.
The sender of this card writes:
"Dear Maude, I am at this place having a fun time. Love, Clarence";
The message on the front assures her of his devotion:
"You're the only one for me, in Binghamton, New York"
