Rescued from a 1910s Edwardian dress that could not be saved, this cutter duo includes a blue velvet sash and matching fabric flower embellishment.
The flower petals are individually crafted and joined in the back, while the center of the flower is constructed of gold bullion metal mesh layered over velvet. It measures 4" across.
The matching two-sided velvet sash (once attached belt) was removed from a side seam and has two ball portions of snaps on one end. It measures 18 1/2" x 2 1/4".
These would be marvelous if used as they were originally intended, or as millinery embellishments.
In the antique textile business, ragpickers call these kinds of finds "cutters". Why? Because they are cut off and saved from destruction.
