1942 Nashville Tennessee State Capitol
A 1942 Nashville Tennessee State Capitol vintage postcard. Situated atop Cedar Knob, downtown Nashville’s highest point, the Tennessee State Capitol was built between 1845 and 1859. The building was designed by architect William Strickland in the Greek Revival style, perpetuating the theme of Nashville as the ‘Athens of the South.’
A Curt Teich Linen postcard: In the 1930s, new printing processes allowed printers to produce postcards with high rag content. This gave them the look of being printed on linen rather than paper. The most notable printer of this period was Curt Teich & Co. printed its first linen card in 1931. Teich’s process allowed for quicker production and brighter dyes to color the images.
