Three in total. 1900-20s vintage opaque white casein buttons. Small four-hole sew-through buttons. Measure approximately 27L, 27 lignes, 17.1 mm, 43/64.
We are listing several sets of this style button that we have collected over decades of vintage clothing restoration projects. Please understand that while we have done our best to identify and match them with their many nuances of color shades and details, there may be one or two in a set that are not perfectly matched. Salvaged from a button fly of antique pants. Some show signs of hard laundering.
Invented in 1897, Casein milk plastics are a type of plastic made from a protein called casein found in milk. They were popular in the early 1900s, but making it was a slow process, and after World War II, newer plastics became more popular. The production of casein plastics all but ended after 1945.
