1942 WW2 US Army Work HBT Shirt 40R 48 inch chest
WWII Herringbone Twill Fatigue Work HBT Uniform Shirt Jacket 40R; 48 inch chest.
The HBT jackets were made greatly oversized as they were designed to be worn over the field jacket. Note it is tagged a 40R, but the actual chest measures 48!
The black metal 13-star pattern buttons are riveted to the shirt. This type button was also done in green and was used as far back as 1917. Our best dating on this is 1942.
Label: 40R
Actual measurements of garment taken from outside, laid flat and doubled when appropriate.
Across back/shoulders: 20"
Chest (armpit to armpit doubled): 48"
Length: 30 1/2"
Freshly laundered and ready to wear. Please note there are stains and a few nics in the fabric, as to be expected from the real deal. Please note this is lighter and more faded/worn looking than the deep green showing in the images - I would consider it a light olive green. The stamp on the inside back is a laundry marking.
