Set of three. 1920s vintage red casein buttons These two-hole, sew-through buttons were salvaged from a badly damaged 1920s beach pajama top. Measure approximately 26.4 mm rounded to 41L, 41 lignes, 26 mm, or 1 1/32 inch.
Invented in 1897, Casein milk plastics are a type of plastic made from a protein called casein found in milk. They were popular in the early 1900s, but making it was a slow process, and after World War II, newer plastics became more popular. The production of casein plastics all but ended after 1945.
