In 1928, Dante Quinterno introduced Patoruzú, a beloved comic character who quickly rose to fame as the iconic hero of Argentine comics. Patoruzú, a wealthy Tehuelche cacique residing in Patagonia, is known for his immense physical strength and kind-hearted nature. Originally a minor character in Quinterno's series "Don Gil Contento," Patoruzú's popularity among readers led to the comic being renamed in his honor.

Dante Quinterno was an Argentine comics artist, agricultural producer, and prolific editorial businessman. He was famous for creating the Patoruzú, Isidoro Cañones, and Patoruzú characters.
