Signed Italy. This is a beautiful late 1940s aluminum Miraculous Medal. "During World War Two, there were many shortages of precious metals. The major metals were all going to the war effort, so gold, silver, and other metal jewelry were hard to find. Aluminum became the alternative metal used.
The Miraculous Medal was first called the Medal of the Immaculate Conception. Because of the numerous accounts of miracles by those who wore it, people began to call it the Miraculous Medal. 21 x 16 mm.
