This vintage 1908 lithograph postcard features the Hall of Natural Science, later known as Macbride Hall, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. The building is a stunning example of classical revival architecture, with a grand entrance flanked by columns and a prominent set of stairs. Designed by the architectural firm Proudfoot & Bird, Macbride Hall was completed in 1908.

Macbride Hall has been a cornerstone of the University of Iowa’s campus since its completion. Originally named the Hall of Natural Science, it was renamed in 1934 after University President Thomas Macbride. The building houses the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History, one of the oldest museums west of the Mississippi River, established in 1858.

This lithograph postcard, with its rich historical context and architectural beauty, would make a stunning addition to any collection. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of Iowa City’s storied past!
