1940s Little Dipper 2T

This exceptionally rare child's piece is by the vintage luxury swimwear line Cole of California. This charming cotton swimsuit dates from 1948, as illustrated in the referenced advertisement. Sweet mint green, with a darling novelty conversational print of cute pink, white, and black clothes drying on a clothesline. The front circle skirt is a singular flounce, with an additional ruffle added at the back. 

The comfortable use of elastic is called Matletex, and it was Cole's patented and revolutionary process of elasticizing their swimwear at the time. You will note that the covered areas are darker, with light fading in the Sun (see image with skirt lifted). There is some surface dinge at the folds, which is also expected. This has been laundered with Oxy Wash and is being offered in as-shown condition.
