Guitar Player Magazine square-shaped supplement record, April 1990, #64
Matrix / Runout: MTX GP#64 Apr'89
David Tronzo is an American guitarist renowned for his innovation of pairing the techniques of electric slide guitar with the genres of bebop, modern jazz, rock, downtown music, and experimental music. He has recorded alongside Reeves Gabrels, Wayne Horvitz, David Sanborn, and The Lounge Lizards.
In 1990, Firkins released his self-titled debut album highlighting his vast knowledge of bluegrass and country licks. The album landed him the top spot in the category of "Best New Talent" in a readers' poll in Guitar Player magazine that year 9same year this flexi disc was released by the magazine). Firkins is an Edison Award winner, which is the equivalent of a Grammy in the Netherlands.
Flexi discs are thin, flexible vinyl records popular in the 1970s and 1980s. They were distributed in music magazines, cereal boxes, or special events. Despite the lower audio quality than other formats, they are well-loved by music enthusiasts.
