"Gliding Flight" (Gleitflug) was designed by Albert Caasmann for Rosenthal in 1914. A charming ground fairy rides on the back of a dragonfly. The lip of the base is incised with the artist's name, A. Caasmann. Mold number K354. The Rosenthal Selb Bavaria mark on the base dates this piece to 1924.
This exquisite Jugendstil Art Nouveau piece is approximately 3 1/2 inches tall (9 cm).
Albert Caasmann (2 June 1886 β 23 March 1968) was a renowned German sculptor and porcelain artist known for his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity. Among his notable works are a series of elf and fairytale-themed figurines, each intricately designed to evoke a sense of wonder and whimsy. Caasmann's work is exhibited in the Porzellanikon's Rosenthal Museum in Selb, Germany.
