1909 vintage topographical postcard. The Auxerre Clock Tower was built in the 15th century. First used as a prison, it was turned into a clock and belfry in 1483. A fire devastated the tower in 1825 but it was restored and largely rebuilt identically between 1891 and 1893. Marvelous street scene. This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
