About Marius Hammer (1847 - 1927): regarded as one of the most important silversmiths in Norway. Son of Lauritz Hammer (1812-74) also a master goldsmith.

Studied first under his father, then in Hamburg and Berlin before establishing his own workshop in Bergen in 1871. From around 1880 he specialized in modern versions of traditional Norwegian jewelry as well as plique-à-jour enamel work. In 1885, he / the Hammer firm became court provider to the Prince of Wales. You will be able to view a work in the Victoria and Albert Museum, The British Museum, and other important collections throughout the world.
