The Jesuit Retreat House on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has a rich history. Established in 1961, it has served as a place of spiritual growth and reflection for many. The retreat house is located on the western shoreline of Lake Winnebago, providing a serene and peaceful environment.

The land has a long history, dating back to 1851 when Jackson and Ruth Swift first settled it. They named the area Perryville, which thrived briefly before becoming a ghost town by the Civil War. In the early 20th century, the Fahrney brothers, successful businessmen from Chicago, purchased the land and transformed it into a luxurious summer estate known as Fahrnwald, complete with a 30-room mansion, boathouse, and extensive grounds.

In 1961, the Jesuits acquired the property and established the retreat house. Since then, it has offered a variety of retreat experiences rooted in the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, including silent weekend retreats, 12-Step retreats, and individually directed retreats, welcoming people of all faiths.

The Jesuit Retreat House continues to be a place where individuals can find peace, quiet, and spiritual enrichment amidst the natural beauty of Lake Winnebago.
