1909 vintage postcard of Main Street looking West in Thornton, Indiana. Thorntown is in Sugar Creek Township, Boone County, Indiana. We see a sign advertising the Bakery Fat Market on the left and a W. A. Miller Groceries and Queensware on the right side of the street. Lively commercial activity is afoot, with men, horses, buggies, and carts amid daily activities. The community name was derived from the English translation of the Miami Indian village name, Kawiakiungi (place of thorns), once located here. This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
