1914. This World War One era postcard shows the drastic change in the postcard styles from the pre-war cards. It came out during the first Christmas of the war. The image size and amount of ink used are drastically reduced compared to the pre-war period cards. The white background is an early sign of ink shortages.
Embossed holly decorates the frame but in a much smaller proportion and a lower relief than found in most pre-war cards. This is still a time when people think it will be a short war and soon all will go back to how things were before. This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
