The “Eat 'Em and Smile” tour marked David Lee Roth’s triumphant solo debut after leaving Van Halen. Following the unexpected success of his debut EP, Crazy from the Heat (1985), Roth released his first full-length album, Eat 'Em and Smile, on July 7, 1986. The tour, which ran from mid-1986 through early 1987, showcased Roth’s dynamic stage presence and solidified his status as a solo artist.
This listing includes a rare raglan sleeve world tour shirt and the original ticket purchased at the legendary show on November 15, 1986, at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Hollywood, Florida. This concert featured an all-star lineup with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and bass legend Billy Sheehan, making it an unforgettable night for rock fans. That night Steve Vai was flipping his guitar over his shoulder, and it came loose and went flying on the stage. David Lee Roth just picked up the guitar and gyrated with it, while Vai grabbed another guitar like nothing had happened.
The shirt has black raglan sleeves and a black collar with a contrasting white body that features two-sided graphics. The shirt has been stored since the 1980s and is sold in as-found condition. The tag is faded, and there are pale brownish-yellow stains throughout (see images). You might want to wash it before you wear it: it is our opinion after decades of handling vintage clothing that the stains are unlikely to lift. It is made of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. Care instructions: Machine wash warm with like colors, and tumble dry on medium heat. Do not iron or dry clean.
