1970 Auspicious Cinnabar Bracelet

This gorgeous vintage 1970s hand-carved cinnabar bangle bracelet is covered in an auspicious floral design.  Although lacquer is used in many Asian cultures, carving lacquer is unique to China. Lacquer is the resin (or sap) of a family of trees found throughout southern China. It is a quickly fading art form, with fewer and fewer skilled artisans continuing the craft. Cinnabar is said to attract abundance in wealth and support altruistic businesses.
