In 1942, Lt. Commander Henry T. McMaster, supervisor of support services at the station, contracted with photographer Ross Hall to produce group and portrait photos of all recruits and companies. Ross Hall owned a photography studio in nearby Sandpoint, Idaho. In addition to the formal portraits Hall was hired to produce, he also took photographs of life at the station. This is one of those photographs. Hall's photographs have sold at auction, with results up to $1000 depending on the size and subject matter of the work.
