A clear crystal flacon de parfum acid etched "Cristal Nancy" on its base. The bottle and stopper are hand-engraved with illegible, matching inscriptions, indicating this is a matching set. You can still smell a lingering fragrance when you hold the bottle and stopper to your nose.

The unique stopper was modeled after the champagne stoppers of the period and the body's design was influenced by 19th century medicine bottles. The French fragrance company Guerlain embraced the design and ordered the high-end crystal containers from Cristal Nancy and Baccarat for their fragrances. You can periodically find these bottles offered for sale and at auction bearing the Guerlain marks. However, the absence of the Guerlain branding coupled with the relatively short period of Cristalleries de Nancy's production makes this an exceptional addition to any collection.

Cristalleries de Nancy was a glass manufacturer that operated during the golden age of crystal from 1921 to 1937. The company was located across from Daum Nancy Glassworks in Nancy, France. Cristalleries de Nancy produced high-end crystal products, specializing in perfume bottles. The company won a Grand Prize at the Art Deco Exhibition in Paris in 1925. Showrooms were created worldwide, in New York, London, Cologne, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro. This brings us to this bottle, which was acquired in a Buenos Aires showroom by the current owner's father, who bought it as a gift for his wife (her mother). It was brought to the United States in 1956 when she emigrated from Argentina to New York, and it is now offered for sale here. Further details of Provenance will be provided at the time of purchase.
