Walter Cronkite Man On The Moon 1969
A truly rare find, the vintage Moon Landing record from the Apollo 11 mission:
This original 7" vinyl record, titled Man on the Moon, is a CBS Enterprises/CBS News Presentation produced with Walter Cronkite. It features commentary and historical context surrounding the Apollo 11 mission. A collector's dream, this item includes not only the record itself but also the two original sleeves that accompanied this iconic Space Age recording.
The record plays at 33 1/3 RPM and features an image of the Moon's surface on the label. The paperboard sleeve on the front displays the same lunar image, while the back features a powerful quote from President Kennedy:
"Now is the time to take longer strides -- time for a great new American Enterprise... I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth." β John F. Kennedy, May 25, 1961.
The outer sleeve, titled The Moon Through Glass, includes detailed information about Corning Glass Works' role in the Apollo 11 mission.
Narrated by Walter Cronkite, renowned for his coverage of the U.S. space program, this record is a captivating piece of history. Cronkite was the only non-NASA recipient of a Moon-rock award, making his involvement all the more significant.
This rare find is a must-have for any space program enthusiast, Kennedy memorabilia collector, or vinyl record aficionado. The record has a surface scratch on side one that does not affect the playback quality.
Don't miss your chance to own this unique piece of space history!
